Heart valve surgery in India an optimum antidote for damaged valves

Heart is one of the most important organs of the human body. It has four valves that include Aortic valve, Mitral valve, Tricuspid valve, pulmonary valve. The valves are made up of thin and muscular flaps of the tissues that open and close as the heart pumps. These valves take care that blood flows through heart in the correct direction. They work very hard in stretching back and forth with every heart beat.

Sometimes the Heart valve problem makes the working of the heart very difficult and causes heart failure. At times, the valves do not open in proper way and restricts the blood flow. Also, they do not close properly and let blood leak where it should not. This stage is termed as incompetence, deficiency or regurgitation.

Prolapse is also a condition when the mitral valve flaps are unable to close properly. Prolapse is most common in the women. It pushes the mitral valve flap back into the left atrium as high force builds inside the left ventricle that may lead to a small leak.

Heart valve surgery is an only option used to repair or replace diseased heart valves. The heart valve surgery is done in two ways either through the open surgery or by minimally invasive valve surgery. In open valve surgery, the patient is given a general anaesthesia that will make the patient asleep and unable to feel pain.

During the surgery, the heart surgeon makes a huge surgical cut in the patient’s breastbone to reach the heart and aorta. The patients are attached to a bypass pump or a heart heart-lung bypass machine. These machines then perform the function of heart while the heart is stopped.

In other hand, minimally invasive valve surgery is done through much smaller cuts. During the surgery, a catheter is inserted through the skin. Several different techniques such as percutaneous surgery, Robot-assisted surgery, Laparoscopy or endoscopy are used in this type of heart valve surgery.

Compared to the western countries, heartvalve replacement surgery in India is less expensive. Moreover, the treatment in the country is beyond the excellence. Advance medical equipments, latest technology, and innovative approach, high class medical services are the amenities of the Indian Hospitals.

The cardiac surgeons in India are highly qualified and skilled. Apollo Hospitals, Wockhardt Hospital, AIIMS, Max Super Specialty hospitals are in the list of the best hospitals for heart valve replacement surgery in India.
